Loot Crate: ‘Villains’ unboxing
It’s here!! We could hardly contain our excitement when we heard we were getting this months ‘Villains’ themed Loot Crate to review for you all.
Currently celebrating their 2nd birthday with close to 1 million fans, Loot Crate is an epic monthly subscription box for geeks and gamers. Based in America, Loot Crate have been shipping to the UK for a little over a year now and have recently added Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, and The Netherlands into Looter territory!
This was our very first Loot Crate but we were already massive fans and squealed with excitement as our postie produced the beautiful box to us this morning. Now, we’re not ones to snatch here at Flecking Records but we did swiftly remove it from his hands and walk (at an elevated pace) straight to the kitchen to open our box.
What’s in the box?
Upon opening the box the exclusivity of the ‘Villains’ theme hits you straight away, being greeted by a doodle of the fantastic Harley Quinn. You’ll probably need to take a moment to take it all in and admire the design inside the box, which has been specifically designed with the Villains theme in mind.
This is where it gets really fun, the first item you are greeted with is this month’s exclusive Loot Crate T-Shirt. This awesome T-Shirt has to be one of our all-time favourite geeky T-Shirts. It shows the Joker dressed up as fellow villain Loki, creating Joki!! Ha ha! The exclusive design was created for Loot Crate by regular designer Zack Finfrock.
Hiding under the T-Shirt was another epic edition to our weekend wardrobe, oh yes…. red stripy socks!! These pretty cool socks are a tribute to Marvel character Deadpool (AKA Wade Wilson).
Next we came to the poster which was neatly rolled up across the box. As we unrolled it we couldn’t have been happier, being massive Harley Quinn and Joker fans we can honestly say it doesn’t get any better than this. There is a perforation across the centre of the prints so you can separate them, if you’re brave enough. We can’t wait to get frames for our prints and put them the wall!
Delving back in, we find this month’s information booklet. Inside this pretty awesome mini-magazine you’ll find not only all the details on this month’s products but photos of fellow Looters, puzzles and several articles including one with Marvel artist Skottie Young. The cover of this month’s features all our favourite bad guys and is a larger version of the image on this month’s exclusive Loot Crate badge.
Feeling like a spoilt kid at Christmas by this point we excitedly pull out the Darth Vader keyring and ran to get our keys! You can never have enough Keyrings, and this one looks right at home with his Lego brother on our keys!
For the gamer side of our loot appetites is this pretty awesome Bowzer magnet. Featuring the words “I want you”, we’re pretty sure this is an attempt at getting us to join his quest to rid the world of hairy plumbers but we’re sticking it on the fridge to remind us of all the goodies inside our Loot Crate and how badly we want another one! Bad luck Bowzer!
Necessary Evil – Super Villains of DC Comics is a dvd documentary narrated by Christopher Lee. It explores what makes the likes of Bane, The joker, Lex Luthor, Catwoman and Doomsday so terribly wonderful. As Loot Crate is a US company this DVD only plays on Region 1 or multi-region DVD Player, we’re lucky enough to have one and can’t wait to watch this DVD.
Lastly we have the one we’ve been waiting for…. At the very bottom of the Crate lies the third Loot Crate exclusive, the Rocket Racoon comic book! With Guardians of the Galaxy coming out in less than two weeks Rocket Racoon is growing extremely popular. Teaming up with Marvel the guys at Loot Crate have been able to exclusively give Looters a first edition variant cover of the brand new comic book and it’s one of the most awesome things we’ve seen in a long time, although we’re too scared to take it out of it’s bag!
In conclusion we absolutely love Loot Crate! This box has lived up to, and beyond, all our geeky expectations! We love the T Shirt, the comic book, the poster/prints, actually we love all of it! It’s difficult to get an exact value on the content but it’s roughly in the area of $48.99 (approx £28.71/36.39 euros) which is well over the subscription cost.
Next month’s theme has already been announced as ‘Heroes’ and will contain a Loot Crate exclusive Funko Pop Vinyl figure!!!
