Sales & Settlements
We like to keep ahead of the game here at Flecking Records, and generally there isn’t a stone unturned when it comes to hunting down gossip. Which is why tonight, you might wish to share the excitement with us. After contacting Ki Fitzgerald’s and Owen Doyle’s PR agency, we have had an official statement of what we can release for you all to see. According to this document, Richard Rashman (McFly’s manager), record producer John MacLauchlan and Rashman’s management company Prestige, all settled out of court before the hearing had even started. This means that this court case is now in the hands of James and Matt, and not their management company. Unfortunately, this just adds more pressure onto the situation.
A spokesperson for Ki and Owen’s management, Wild West, said; “We cannot comment on the specifics of the settlements due to confidentiality restrictions and the ongoing nature of the High Court hearing. We can simply confirm that three of the five defendants in the High Court action have each reached out of court settlements with Ki and Owen. We are not permitted to discuss or disclose details of the settlements as Ki and Owen are bound by what are commonly known as ‘gagging clauses’”
He then continued; “We are hopeful that justice will be done in the High Court and that Ki and Owen will get their names put back on the songs that made Busted famous and that they will get the recognition that they deserve for their part in the creation of the Busted phenomenon.”
To add salt to the wound, Busted royalties worldwide have officially been frozen by Ki and Owen’s legal advisors. This means that any money made by Busted at this moment in time, whether it be from songs played on the radio or TV, is all tied up. No Busted member can touch the money. Which is a shame, because that money might come in handy very soon. However, we still have faith.
We have more exciting news about Ki and Owen coming tomorrow so check back then.
