Lucas & Walliams to make a movie…
Little Britain star Matt Lucas is working on a film that will see him and David Walliams play multiple characters, he has told BBC News.
“We’ve got an idea that excites us that we hope will appeal to audiences in lots of different countries,” he said.
“The two of us will play five or six characters that will go around together, so it’ll be technically very challenging,” he added.
The movie is being developed with US studio Dreamworks.
“It’s a story we created with a writer called Will Davies and he’s written a script,” Lucas said.
“We looked at people like Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy and how they appear as lots of different characters.”
“And as our audience on TV are used to seeing us playing different characters, we thought it would be interesting to make a movie where we all play lots of characters and have scenes where they all interact.
When asked if he had come up with a film title yet, Lucas said: “We have, but I’m not telling you!
“The film has not been green-lit yet so it would be foolish to say the name of it,” he added.
The movie will be produced by Ben Stiller’s production company, Red Hour, which made current box office hit, Tropic Thunder.
Lucas also said he was “very excited” to be playing the roles of Tweedledum and Tweedledee in Tim Burton’s forthcoming Alice in Wonderland.
“I go out in early October to Los Angeles to film,” he said.
“I think a lot of the work is going to be green screen but I’ve seen some set designs and what the characters are going to look like and they look absolutely extraordinary.
“I pinch myself when I think I’m going to be playing a part in a Disney movie directed by Tim Burton starring Johnny Depp – I can’t quite believe it’s going to be happening.”
Filming for Alice in Wonderland has already begun in Plymouth, with the movie due to be released in 2010.
