Mini Marcs
Marc Jacobs is set to dress the summer’s coolest kids on the beach, as the label launches its first children’s swimwear collection. The company, which launched its first childrenswear offering, Little Marc, in 2005, has signed a deal with a US-based swimwear licencee – which will see the tiny costumes hit the beach by 2010.
“People are always looking for mommy-and-me-type things,” Rosemarie DiLorenzo, who owns Swimwear Anywhere – Jacobs new kids swimwear licensee, told WWD. “Honestly, the cuter, the better. The more iconically recognizable, the better. People in this economy are spending on their kids still. That is why we continued with Little Miss Marc and Little Mister Marc.”
The collection will comprise around 50 pieces, including beach cover-ups, and will feature prints and shapes inspired by the Marc Jacobs adult ready-to-wear collections. Prices will start at around £10.
