RIP Patrick Swayze
This morning we woke to the sad news that Patrick Swayze has died following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The actor who was diagnosed with the cancer in January 2008 sadly passed away at his home in Los Angeles yesterday aged 57.
Strong to the end, Patrick never allowed his illness to force him from the limelight, filming a memoir with his wife and shooting The Beast(A US cop drama series) in which he played an undercover FBI agent, after being diagnosed.
Demi Moore, who played alongside the star in Ghost, led the tributes this morning, tweeting: “Patrick you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives.”
A three-time Golden Globe nominee, Swayze became not just a star but a popular culture icon with his performance as the misunderstood bad-boy Johnny Castle in “Dirty Dancing” a movie that has seen many of us through a box of chocolates on a girly night in.
RIP Patrick.
