Brendan Cole kills a chicken…

We knew that Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole had a bit of a reputation for not treating birds in the best way but we weren’t expecting to read this.

Brendan is shown killing a chicken with a catapult for a Television New Zealand travel show.

The dancer also wrings the rooster’s neck and beats it with a stick while exploring the remote Pacific islands of Vanuatu and adhering to the local custom.

‘It feels really awful,’ he says on the programme. ‘But if you are going to somebody’s village you have to embrace everything they do.’

‘I’ve never killed an animal with my bare hands,’ he says. ‘Well, I did shoot a bird once but it was kind of by accident as a 14-year-old and I cried like a girl when I did it.’
