Celebrities pitch in to help Haiti earthquake
We told you how Simon Cowell is organising the charity single for the Haiti disaster, well it is not only Simon willing to help.
For instance Lady Gaga has decided to donate all the money raised from tickets and merchandise sold at her show in New York City on Sunday to the Appeal. At Wednesday’s concert at the same venue (Radio City Music Hall) during a song Lady GaGa stopped mid-song and made a pledge to her fans;
“There’s a lot of people in the world right now who need our help. Sing this so God can hear us. Sing this for the people of Haiti!” She is also selling Haiti relief t-shirts on her official merchandise website, which according to the site, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the cause. Josh Franceschi from You Me At Six is also doing his part to help Haiti. He recently launched his own clothing range ‘Down But Not Out’. The clothing website are giving 20% of the proceeds from certain items on the range to the Haiti Earthquake Aid Appeal for the next 4 weeks. Click here to visit Josh’s site.
Also, it is noted that celebrites themselves have been donating large amounts of money to do all they can for the cause. For instance Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 millon dollars. Madonna has also donated a quarter of a million.
In America tonight there is a one hour telethon set up by the likes of George Clooney in order to try and raise money for the appeal. Stars such as U2’s Bono, Alicia Keys, Sting and Christina Aguilera have signed up to help. This will be screened tonight on MTV at 1am (GMT).This is only a small selection of what celebrities are doing to help the Haiti appeal.
