This week in Splitsville…..

We have another two casualties to add to the recent trend. This week sees the turn of Hollywood couple Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy after almost five years annnnnnnd on our side of the pond Lenny Henry and Dawn French who have shared a staggering 25 years together.

Lenny and Dawn apparently made the decision six months ago but had continued to live together in “constant discussion” and claim the split is “entirely amicable”.

The couple released a joint  statement which read “Lenny Henry and Dawn French are sad to announce they have decided to separate after 25 years of marriage. They made the decision last October and since then have been living together in constant, open and honest discussion. The separation is entirely amicable and they fully intend to maintain their close friendship.”

We do love the term “constant discussion”!!

Across the pond news of Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy splitting after dating for almost five years started circulating yesterday.

Gossips got all overexcited after Jim posted the news on Twitter (current trend!?), saying  “Jenny and I have just ended our five-year relationship, I’m grateful for the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best!”

This was quickly followed by reports that Jenny had released a statement saying she was “so grateful” for her years with the actor, and that she would maintain her relationship with his 22-year-old daughter Jane.

“I will continue to be in his daughter’s life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart,” said the 37-year-old, who has a seven-year-old son from a previous relationship.

No one has yet said why the couple have split but we think Jim’s beard may have played a vital role in the decision.
