Aaron Johnson’s real life Chatroom
Aaron Johnson’s character in ‘Chatroom’ reflects real life.
The 19-year-old actor – who rose to fame portraying John Lennon in biography ‘Nowhere Boy’ in 2009 – confesses the role of William in the thriller movie comes from the deluge of news surrounding young men encouraging each other to do illegal things on webcams.
He told Empire.com: “The subject matter was kind of going on quite frequently in newspapers and articles about profile pages and chat rooms – guys pushing each other to the limit and committing suicide and things.
“My character creates a chatroom as a therapy to undo his insecurities and befriends these guys. But he starts to slowly pick away at their weaknesses. And also I think when you are writing and you are in a chatroom and you are reading these things they are a lot more dramatic than just saying them and having a bit of banter in a playground. They are published and documented and there, and they grow in your mind.”
Despite being one of Britain’s most hyped actors in recent months, Aaron has little work lined up in the immediate future – bar the follow up to action comedy ‘Kick-Ass’, due for release in 2012.
