David Walliams had Disney dance
David Walliams and Lara Stone had their first dance to Disney song ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
The couple – who married in a glitzy celebrity wedding at London’s Claridge’s Hotel on Sunday (16.05.10) – eschewed a traditional dance at the reception in Shoreditch House in favour of a comedy-inspired number from the classic animated movie.
The version of the track they swayed to was recorded by Celine Dion.
At around 10pm guests including Russell Brand, Noel Gallagher and Geri Halliwell were treated to a synchronised swimming contest in the pool of the luxury venue, before partying on into the night.
A partygoer said: “We have never seen David so happy. He barely left Lara’s side all night. He led her around the room showing her off and thanking everyone for coming.
“At one point he was overheard joking with Russell Brand about how he thought he was going to steal his thunder on his big day – it turns out he spotted Russell leaving Claridge’s just as he was arriving for the reception.
“David and Lara seemed so in love. As they were dancing they were gazing into one another’s eyes and had their arms wrapped around each other.”
As well as a menu of lobster salad and seared sea bass at the reception, later on in the evening David and Lara’s celebrity pals tucked into mini fish and chips and pots of risotto, washing it down with pink champagne and Grey Goose vodka.
In place of a wedding cake, guests took home individualised cupcakes from posh eatery Primrose Hill Bakery, individualised with David and Lara’s names.
The pair are now on their honeymoon, believed to be in the romantic French capital Paris.
