DeLonge: Angels & Airwaves and blink-182 ‘drastically different’
Tom DeLonge has spoken out about his two bands, blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves, who are currently trying to co-exist after blink’s reunion in February 2009.
Tom, who originally wanted to be a fire fighter, found fame in pop-punk band blink-182, which allowed him to have fun and make catchy, profanity-packed, truly awesome music.
Then in 2005 came Angels & Airwaves, a band which allowed Tom to show his serious side and write songs about issues such as war and peace.
So now that the two bands are co-existing, Tom gets to show off his ‘grown-up’ side, as well as keeping his adolescent side alive too.
“I think it probably is the best of both worlds, because they’re so drastically different,” Sign On San Diego reports the rocker as saying.
“Maybe not to the passive listener,” he continued. “But most people will notice vast differences and see that I’m expressing myself in completely different ways with each band. That kind of symbiotic relationship, for a musician, could be wonderful — or self-destructive.”
blink-182 are planning a European tour this for this year.
