Kim Cattrall is similar to SATC Samantha

Kim Cattrall’s life has similarities to her ‘Sex and the City’ character Samantha Jones.

The 53-year-old actress – who has previously said she is not like the man-eating character – professes she is now at a point in her life where she has discovered she does have similar points to Samantha.

She said: “I’m single at the moment and sometimes you get very lonely being single and sometimes it’s tough and it’s great to have. I’m so fortunate that I get to have girlfriends in my life that I can call, like these characters do. They get you through the rough times and you also have some amazing fun times.

“Samantha, after 14 years, my God, it’s a second skin that you just put on.”

Discussing the decision to move ‘Sex and the City 2’ from liberal New York to the conservative Middle East for the second instalment of the movie, Kim claims the film is not “political” but helps discuss the problems women face there.

She said: “I don’t think we’re critical, this is not a political movie. I feel that we are talking about women, and there is a woman underneath a burka, and she has a heart that beats, and we expose that. We are also talking about a culture that is completely different than our own culture. I think what we did was open it up.”

Kim also confesses she spent much of her time in Morocco “drunk”.

She told Nine to Five: “It was hot. It was dusty and I was drunk most of the time.”

‘Sex and the City 2’ – which reunites Kim with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis – is released in the UK on May 28.
