Pixie Lott to play Mary in Nativity Story

Pixie Lott is set to make her film debut, playing Mary in a comedy about the Nativity story.

The Mama Do singer has beaten Britney Spears to be cast alongside Bette Midler in Peter Hewitt’s movie Sweet Baby Jesus.

It has been rumoured that Sam Rockwell  is set to play a hippy called Joe who, along with Mary, travels to the town of Bethlehem, Maryland to visit Mary’s mother for Christmas!! It gets better…..

Mary then reveals she is pregnant, but not by Joe, and the couple stay at a guesthouse owned by a woman called Eleanor, played by Midler. Sound familiar?!!

The movie will be set in the 1970s, will be shot in Maryland and Ireland later this summer.

The director, who can credit films such as  Garfield and Bill And Ted’s Bogus Journey to his name said: “The script has fun subverting the treasured details of the Nativity, posing the question, ‘What would we do if it all happened again?'”
