Russell Brand snubs dad for wedding

Russell Brand hasn’t invited his father to his wedding.

The British comic star has decided against asking Ron Brand to witness his nuptials to fiancee Katy Perry – whose parents Keith and Mary Hudson will be at the ceremony – because he doesn’t want to upset his mother Barbara, who split from his dad when Russell was a child.

Ron said: “No one has been invited. It’s going to be a very small wedding.”

A family friend insists 66-year-old Ron respects his son’s decision, though he is upset at missing the big day.

The source said: “The split happened a long time ago but there is still tension there. Russell’s very close to his mother. He hates seeing her upset. To be fair, Ron takes full blame for the split.

“He’s glad Russell’s found the woman he wants to settle down with. Of course he would like to see his son get married but he is respectful of the situation.”

Russell, 34, and 25-year-old Katy are believed to be marrying in India – where they got engaged on New Year’s Eve (31.12.09) – in October.
