Sandi Thom’s love split album
Sandi Thom is hoping her new album will bring some much needed comfort.
The Scottish singer, who had an international smash with ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)’, is about to release new LP ‘Merchants and Thieves’ and says it has come at a great time it will give her something to focus on following her break-up with fiance Jake Fields.
The 28-year-old star said: “Even though it hurts, it drives me to want to make this album a success. For it to succeed would make the sacrifice worth it in the end.”
Sandi has financed ‘Merchants and Thieves’ – which includes tracks co-written and produced by Jake – herself after she was dropped by her record label Sony, just four years after her debut album and single stormed to the top of the charts.
She told the Daily Record newspaper: “It’s just business. I don’t take it personally. I actually think it is the best thing that ever happened to me, because I wouldn’t have got the opportunity to set up my own label and make this album. It took a couple of months to get over it.”
Sandi’s new album ‘Merchants and Thieves’ will be released on Monday (17.05.10).
