Streetdance 3D beats Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time to be Box Office Number 1
The British Film industry is celebrating today as Streetdance 3D beat Hollywood blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time to top the UK Box Office.
The UK’s first 3D dance movie British dance flick raked in £1.79 million in its opening weekend, leaving Prince of Persia trailing behind on £1.37 million.
The movie, which features Britain’s Got Talent winners George Sampson and Flecking favourites Diversity was not shown in as many cinemas, it also did not receive quite as much hype in the weeks running up to it’s release as it’s rival yet it still managed to claim the number 1 spot. YAY!
Producer James Richardson said: “The success of StreetDance 3D has far exceeded our expectations. The fact that an independent British film has beaten the US heavyweights just shows how well Streetdance 3D has connected with audiences across the country.”
The official soundtrack is also storming the charts. It features the likes of chart toppers N Dubz, Tinie Tempah, Ironik, Aggro Santos, Kimberly Wyatt, Pixie Lott and Cheryl Cole.
