Bruno Mars has defended shows like X Factor and American Idol.

The hit-maker defended the music talent shows because they connect people emotionally to the music industry.

“X Factor and American Idol give you a show, variety, a back story. I grew up watching American Idol and worked with Alexandra Burke, so I know how the system goes.” the 25-year-old told the Daily Star.

“It plays a big part in the music industry.”
