Dougie Poynter’s mum to Frankie Sandford: “Leave my son alone”
Dougie Poynter’s mum has a message for Frankie Sandford – “Leave my son alone”.
McFly bassist Dougie recently checked into rehab, after being dumped by The Saturdays singer for the second time.
Now, his mum Sam Moody has spoken out to Star magazine.
“He was broken-hearted – really down. It was a kick in the teeth, but what do you do?” she said.
“I can’t wave my magic wand and make it better. I hated seeing him so upset – maybe it’s because she was his first love.”
Sam said that the family were wary of Frankie, because “she’s done it before”.
On recently visiting her son in rehab, she said: “He looked lost and like a little boy, because he’s usually with the other three boys, and suddenly he’s there on his own.”
“He was excited about seeing me and it reminded me of when he was about 12. I had a cry, but he’s doing really well and was laughing and joking.”
“It’s devastating. It’s horrible. But obviously he knew that she would move on.” Sam said of Frankie’s new relationship with footballer Wayne Bridge.
So does Dougie’s mum think he and Frankie can be friends?
“That’s the worst thing he could ever do. I think he’s been advised in rehab that he doesn’t have to be rude, but he doesn’t have to be her friend.”
“He was worried about how to deal with it, because they’re doing a concert together at Alton Towers later this year and it’ll probably be the first time he’ll see her.”
“Leave my son alone. That’s all I’ve got to say to her. I don’t care what she does or who she does it with, just let Dougie get on with his life – you don’t want to be part of it, so leave him alone.”
“Let him get better, get over you, and go out and find that incredible woman he deserves.”
