Alice Cooper’s wife got him off the poison

Alice Cooper says his wife helped him stop drinking.

The rocker is celebrating 30 years without a drink, and is grateful to be alive when several of his friends are no longer with us.

“Almost everyone in that wild club I used to be a part of is dead; Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Keith Moon,” the 63-year-old said.

“I saw what happened to them and thought, ‘I better stop waking up in the morning coughing up blood.’

“Before that I drank but I was never drunk — I was just buzzing. I never missed a show or messed up a line in a movie but I was drinking all the time. When my wife realized how ill I was she took me straight to the hospital and now it’s been 30 years without a drink so I was lucky.”
