Nick Diener – The Swellers Interview
We caught up with Nick Diener ahead of The Swellers UK tour later this year.
Hello Nick, how are you?
I’m well, thanks for asking!
You guys are heading to the UK for a tour in November, excited?
Very much. Been awhile since we headlined any shows in the UK, and we’re due. Probably my favorite place to tour.
Is there a noticeable different between UK and US fans?
Their accents, obviously. And people in the UK seem a little bit more excited about band.. which in turn makes me a little bit more excited about the UK fans!
What do you love the most/least about touring the UK?
Love the short drives. Good, cheap, late night food. The thing I like the least is the weather sometimes!
Tell us about the new album.
Our new album “Good For Me” is coming out in the UK very soon. It’s new, it’s good.
What’s your favourite track on the new album?
I really like the song “Inside My Head”. Just a bit of powerful, driving rock and roll song with a little bit of punk rock flavor.
Are there any other bands out there that you could liken your sound to?
I’d like to pretend our music is what you get if the Foo Fighters and Weezer combined and started a punk band.
Tell us why you’re different.
We’re 100% real. Don’t see that much around these days. We’ve been doing it for almost 10 years now. Just doing what we love.
What do you guys have planned for 2012?
Tour tour tour tour tour!
You’ve been together nearly ten years now – where do you see the band in another 10 years time?
Either doing exceptionally well, and still touring and making records, or slowing down quite a bit but still touring the world whenever we can! I don’t think The Swellers will ever stop.
