Edwina Currie becomes the first to leave Strictly Come Dancing
Her foxtrot just wasn’t good enough to keep her in the show as tonight Edwina Currie became the first contestant to be booted out of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Last week’s showcase special all seemed like a distant memory for the stars, as yesterday’s show saw Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly declare the battle for the ballroom well and truly on.
The nerves were plain for all to see as the lines opened for the viewers to cast their vote for the first time, sadly for Edwina Currie and her professional partner Vincent Simone the result saw them becoming the first couple to hang up their dancing shoes.
The fourteen couples each danced either a Salsa or a Foxtrot routine.
After a tense moment (or two – and a lovely performance from Will Young) it was finally announced that Edwina and Vincent would become the first couple to leave the show.
The pair scored a total of 36 points on the judges’ leader board.
Edwina had already started rehearsing for next week’s show, which will be one of Strictly Come Dancing’s show-stopping themed weekends.
