The Swellers announce new album, new single & UK tour
Michigan punk heroes, The Swellers have announced the release of their much- anticipated new album. “Good For Me”, which follows the band’s 2009 label debut “Ups And Downsizing”, is set for release on 21 November.
To celebrate the release, they have confirmed a UK headline tour which will kick off in Nottingham on 29 November with shows in Leeds, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff before finishing up in London at the
Borderline on 7 December.
“Good For Me” marks The Swellers’ most thundering recording to date. The band enlisted the production services of punk rock icon Bill Stevenson (Descendents/ Black Flag), who recorded the album in Colorado. Their second album is a breakneck blast of a record, melding energy and melody in its 10 short, sharp tracks. Songs like ‘Better Things’ and ‘Parkview’ see the band expertly wielding their trademark social commentary, the album manages to strike a stunning balance between punk vitriol and personal introspection.
Since coming together in 2002, The Swellers have earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the most powerful and provocative punk bands of the modern era. The band has toured nearly non-stop since their inception and the December tour will be a welcomed return for the guys, who last hit our shores at the end of 2010. Hailed by Kerrang! as a “revelation”, The Swellers are miles ahead of their peers and have built up a cult following in the UK and this album is sure to please old and new fans alike.
