Simon Cowell was disappointed with Jai McDowall

Simon Cowell says he was disappointed with last year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner.

It was singer Jai McDowall who won the TV talent show, although according to Simon, he “wasn’t one of our best ones”.

He told Daybreak: “I was disappointed with last year’s winner, Jai. You want to find someone who is a star all over the world and who has got a long career.

“With respect to him, he wasn’t one of our best ones. He would make a good living in West End theatre and he is talented, but he wasn’t what I was looking for.

“You want a Diversity or George Samson or a Susan Boyle, a different kind of artist who makes you feel good about doing the show and who is a genuine star.”
