Sir Paul McCartney: “So many bands get called ‘the next Beatles'”
Sir Paul McCartney thinks that bands today are put under a lot of pressure when they are dubbed “the next Beatles”.
The most recent band to be tipped is X Factor success story One Direction, but Beatles legend Paul doesn’t see the need to compare all bands to his.
“There are so many bands who all get called ‘the next Beatles’,” the 69-year-old said.
“Suddenly it puts an awful lot of pressure on them to be the next Beatles.
“Oasis were ‘the next Beatles’ once if you remember.
“It’s a pressure, because suddenly you’ve got to live up to all the things that we did, and it was a different time.
“So let’s just call them ‘the next terrific band’.”
