Yey! Army of Freshmen are heading for the UK
Ventura, California’s Army of Freshmen are set to return to the UK next month in support of their new record, Happy To Be Alive which is set for an April 16th release in the United Kingdom. The record’s first single, “Ava” and it’s hilarious video, in which AOF don “Archie” masks and pay homage to heist movies like Reservoir Dogs and Point Break.
The short April trip, which includes a headline date in Norwich, as well as slots at both dates of the Hit The Deck Festival, will also feature a one off in London with The Aquabats, longtime friends of AOF and creators of the enormously popular children’s show, Yo Gabba Gabba.
As AOF frontman, Chris Jay explains, “Initially we were just coming over to do the Hit The Deck Festival. A quick visit to coincide with the record release. Then The Aquabats called and who are we to turn down Earth’s mightiest superheroes, especially when they’re asking you to rock with them in one of the greatest cities in the world. So a weekend turned into a week and we couldn’t be more excited. We’ll be back this fall for a proper tour, so we’re looking at this as more of a weeklong party to condition our livers for later in the year.”
The 6 piece keyboard rockers are one of the music world’s true underdog success stories. Celebrating their 15th anniversary together, their visit in April marks the band’s 11th trip across the pond which is a major accomplishment for a completely independent band. With their fun and energetic live show, and 5 albums worth of hook filled rock songs, AOF has amassed a loyal fan base around the world and are out to prove slow and steady really does win the race.
