Katy Perry buys Russell Brand a $200,000 trip to space for his 35th birthday.

Instead of spending weeks pondering over which suit or aftershave to buy fiancé Russell Brand for his birthday, Katy Perry decided to go for something completely unique and spent a staggering $200,000 on a ticket to space for the comedian.

Brand will have to undergo three days of intense training before he can go on his Virgin Galactic mission, which will see him travel 365,000ft into the atmosphere.

Virgin Galactic representative Louella Faria said: ‘It is true. We are very excited to have him onboard.

‘There will be 17-inch diameter windows to look out onto. Passengers will be able to view Earth around 800 miles in any direction from space.’

Asked how Brand and his fellow astronauts will celebrate the completion of their mission into space, Ms Faria told E! News: ‘They will pop champagne, give you astronaut wings and give you a party.’

After travelling into the atmosphere at a rate which is three times the speed of sound, Brand will be given the opportunity to make the most of the lack of gravity and float weightlessly for five minutes before heading back to earth.

We already though Katy Perry was awesome, but now we also really wish she was our girlfriend…
