Shocking news – Whitney Houston has passed away.

A rep for the 48-year-old singer confirmed her death to the Associated Press. Whitney died this afternoon, although there are no details about what happened yet.

Just days ago the singer was papped looking a little worse for wear, leaving a party in Hollywood, California.

A matter of hours ago showbiz sites were reporting on the rumour that Whitney was being considered for a judging role on the American X Factor.
