Foo Fighters talk about new album
Foo Fighters’ next album may be “symphonic”.
The group are currently working on their long-awaited new LP with producer Butch Vig and despite rumours it is set to be their heaviest work to date, drummer Taylor Hawkins – who is joined in the band by singer Dave Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel and guitarist Chris Shiflett – insists anything could happen.
He told British radio station XFM: “You’ve got to be careful because you’ll eat your words. Next thing you know we’re playing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and it’s not the hardest record we’ve ever made, it’s the most ‘symphonic record’. Anything can change with our band.
Taylor – who also fronts Coattail Riders – admitted they have previously scrapped entire LPs at the last minute because they were unhappy with their work.
He added: “In the past we’ve recorded albums twice, finished whole records worth hundreds of thousands of dollars… only to re-record it in a week in Dave’s basement. You never know how it’s going to end up.”
